Unicorns and War Unicorns are the level 6 creatures of Rampart. They are recruited from the Unicorn Glade.
"Unicorns and war unicorns have excellent mobility and deliver severe damage with their lancing horn attack. This attack has a 20% chance of blinding an opponent. Both unicorn units project a magic resistant aura which gives adjacent units a 20% chance to ignore the effects of hostile spells." RoE manual
Note that this aura of resistance also applies to the creature itself.
Heroes with a specialty[edit | edit source]
- Clancy the Ranger has unicorns as a specialty, which increases the Attack and Defense skills of any Unicorns or War Unicorns for each level attained after 6th level and gives them a speed bonus of 1.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Unicorns appear at the beginning of The Grail scenario from the Seeds of Discontent campaign in Restoration of Erathia, and the Driving for the Boots scenario from the New Beginning campaign in Shadow of Death.

Unicorns and War Unicorns have adequate skills in comparison to other 6th level creatures. Basic Unicorns are moderately fast, while War Unicorns have speed 9, which is very high for a melee unit unable to fly. While they have mediocre damage capability, they are among the sturdiest and cheapest given their good overall features. Especially the blinding ability makes them fierce opponents, and the aura of magic resistance is helpful from time to time. For example, when a mass damage spell (e.g. Fireball or Meteor Shower) is cast on multiple Unicorn stacks which are adjacent to each other, there's an opportunity that at least one of them will resist the spell. A good tactic is to split them in smaller stacks and attack an enemy unit until the blind effect is applied. Also, you may use only War Unicorns in your secondary hero's army (it may be Clancy, who will give them brilliant speed 10, or Gem, who will heal them fast with First Aid Tent) so as to rush through the map. |
