Bone rattling and otherworldly howls echo between crumbling walls and towers. Do you wish to explore the ruins?
* * *
You climb the mound of bones to reach the top of the highest standing tower, where you find a heap of ancient coins. You also take some time to read the land lying around.
* * *
Wind whistling about melodically is the most interesting thing you find in the ruins. Well, at least you manage to take a good look around the place from the tower.

Ruins is an adventure map location, and commonly known as one of the creature banks. It is guarded by around 40–90 undead creatures. The more guards there are, the better is the reward. Treasure contains gold. After defeating the guards, the shroud is removed from all tiles within 12 tiles from Ruins. If Ruins are already visited, the shroud is removed anyway.

The guards are divided into five stacks of:

A hex: 20/30/40/50 Skeletons
B hex: 3/5/7/9 Wights
C hex: 3/5/7/9 Wraiths
D hex: 10/10/20/20 Skeleton Warriors
E hex: 1/1/2/3 Power Liches

All the guard stacks of the same speed (Wraiths/Power Liches and Wights/Skeleton Warriors) attack in alphabetic order: from A to E. The object's level can be preset by a map-maker.

The hero's troops are located in blue hexes 1-7 (a tail hex for two-hexed creatures) according to stack positioning in the army slots 1-7. But if the hero has less than 7 stacks, e.g. 3, they will be placed in hexes 1-3 no matter how they were placed in the army slots.

Though war machines are not present on the battlefield, the infinite shots effect from Ammo Cart is active.

Slain enemies do not respawn (should the hero retreat or be defeated). The damaged stack's losses will not be redistributed among the others. If a stack was destroyed, it changes the guards disposition. Its place on the battlefield will be taken by the next one in the attacking order. (E.g.: If A stack was destroyed, B stack takes its place, C stack takes the freshly vacated place of B and so on).

Guards preview[edit | edit source]

The table shows how to pre-check the guard strength of an object without attacking it.
Guarding stacks accentuated with bold font should be considered in the first place.
Stacks insignificant for a preview are omitted.
The overall amount of creatures can be checked in the status bar (above the resource line at the bottom of the screen) by hovering over an object already visited (not attacked) by a hero.
