Although the description states that Dispel removes all spells from creatures, it is not true as it does NOT remove effects of the Disrupting Ray spell. However, it can remove all other spells including
Anti-Magic (only with
Advanced Water Magic or
Expert Water Magic). Additionally, Dispel removes effects of
Zombie's Disease,
Scorpicore's Paralyze,
Ghost Dragon's Aging,
Basilisk and Greater Basilisk's and
Medusa and Medusa Queen's Petrification,
Dendroid Guard and Dendroid Soldier's Binding, but don't include
Wyvern Monarch's and
Sea Serpent and Haspid
's Poisonous.
It should be noticed that if you cast Expert Dispel, ALL the troops that their hero doesn't equipped with Sphere of Permanence, including war mechines, objects created by spells like
Force Field, even corpses on the battleground and creatures with magic immunity (e.g.
Black Dragons), will play the animation of Dispel. This means actually ONLY
Sphere of Permanence can provide immunity to Dispel, though in most cases, Dispel casted on corpses or creatures with magic immunity doesn't have any effect.
- For example,
Gold Dragons with
Ghost Dragon's Aging can use Dispel to remove the effect of Aging.
Expert Dispel also removes Fire Walls,
Force Fields,
Land Mines and
Quicksands from the battlefield (with the exception of Quicksands at Dunes
magical terrain).

User Commentary
Having Expert Water Magic, use Dispel carefully as it may remove positive spells from your troops or negative spells from the enemies. For example, if you have cast Blind on the only remaining enemy stack so as to resurrect or animate your killed units, and some of your troops have negative spells on it, try not to use mass Dispel, otherwise the enemy may deliberately kill that remaining stack, disallowing you to raise your slain warriors (instead, mass Cure will be useful). If your enemy has cast positive spells, but, for example, you have Bless on a unit with big damage range (Harpy Hags, Dragon Flies, Storm Elementals), think carefully whether to cast Dispel or not.
