Bron the Beastmaster is a Fortress hero.
Story[edit | edit source]
Bron does not appear in the story text of any campaign levels.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
Bron is one of three heroes (not including campaign-only heroes) that starts with troops above level 3, the other two being Illor and Todd .
Specialty[edit | edit source]
The in-game description "Increases the Attack and Defense skills of any Basilisks or Greater Basilisks for each level attained after 4th level." is erroneous in "each level attained" moment, and lacks the speed bonus information. (Description is fixed in HotA ).
Unlike the native terrain speed bonus, the creature specialty speed bonus can affect the hero's movement points in case the creature is the slowest one in the army.

Bron is useful in giving Fortress a fast start if you choose hero. Bron nearly always starts with basilisks even without HotA. You can also split basilisks into several stacks of 1 basilisk in order to increase the 20% chances of petrifying they have. The +1 speed also helps them reach their targets. Somewhat unfortunately though, basilisks are 2 hex creatures which can be a nuisance to themselves and the rest of the army if they are split. Still, this is a very useful early game tactic. Sadly basilisks's stats aren't high enough for them to be too viable late game, nor do they have a horde building. For example, gnoll specialty gives higher stat bonuses compared to basilisk one. Basilisks still remain non-trivial units and are fast enough to still keep them in the main army, though; the extra defense and speed may even help them a bit with getting to petrify something in a big battle, which is a significant plus. |
