Birth of a Barbarian
Stronghold campaign (primarily).
Manual description[edit | edit source]
Yog has decided to reject his genie heritage and follow in the footsteps of his Barbarian father. Winston Boragus, the Duke of Krewlod, has invited Yog to join his Barbarian army, but Yog's Magic Academy masters do not agree with these plans and will attempt to stop Yog. Once Yog makes it to Krewlod, he must past the first test to see Winston Boragus, and then he must pass the second test – disperse the pieces of the Angelic Alliance.
Backstory[edit | edit source]
Yog has been at the Bracada magic academy learning to be a Wizard, but his Barbarian heritage beckons him to follow the path of a warrior. Yog accepts Duke Winston Boragus' offer to join him in Krewlod. Unfortunately, the Wizards of Bracada will use all their powers to prevent him from leaving.

Note: In the Shadow of Death campaign Birth of a Barbarian, Yog is presented as a Wizard. However, his starting primary skills (Attack 2, Defense 2, Spell Power 1, Knowledge 1) correspond instead to those of a Knight. He does not start with a spell book, and cannot acquire one (entering a Mage Guild while he is a visiting Hero results in a messagebox telling "Yog has given up magic in all its forms. His knowledge of battle and tactics will have to be enough to get him through the rest of his life."). Interestingly, his specialty is Chain Lightning (same as Solmyr), despite being unable to cast spells at all (due to his lack of spell book).

Since it is crucial for Yog not to use magic, the first map may be easier if you recruit a powerful wizard hero as an ally to keep the Bracadans at bay. |
